Fresh from the Garden of England
When I was growing up, I was often told that the best and most luxurious fruit and vegetables came from the Garden of England. It sounded so much like the Garden of Eden that I conflated the two and it assumed an even greater significance. I've always wanted to capture some of our country's best home grown goodness, and when we set up Makers and Merchants we decided to take a look.
We spoke to a number of great producers and makers across the UK to make our range of fine condiments, and settled on a relatively small company who operate from the heart of their old family farm. Converted barns and coach houses now house condiment production and the small team of expert staff work and create from the wonderful rabbit warren of rooms in the main house.
In an area rich with farming, there is a wealth of available produce. If what we want can’t be found there the local network soon provides alternative sources of the exceptional ingredients that go into making our exceedingly good condiments.
