As a child, the designer dreamt of living in a house in which she had created everything herself. That is when her passion for turning the everyday, like a teapot, a plate or a lamp into something special was born.
Roos Van de Velde is a visual artist who is inspired by nature. Inheriting her love of plants from her grandmother, nature is the thread that runs through all of her work. “I feel instinctively connected to nature, especially to trees, but also to flowers, roses in particular”. Her full name means “field rose” in Flemish.
She studied at the Antwerp Art Academy, where she developed an interest in all artistic disciplines, from photography to fashion, to sculpture and jewellery. She acquired a fondness for ceramics, and only working when she feels inspired, the positive energy with which she creates her ceramics is translated into sheer organic perfectly imperfect beauty.
