Frederick Gaultier

The micro architecture of these urbanistic ceramics

by Frenchman Frédérick Gaultier resonates with the work of Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier and Oscar Niemeyer and other masters of modern architecture.

These simple shapes and objects with minimal embellishment represent a kind of brutalism emphasising

texture, and the imperfections of the material.

Amongst the construction projects of the post war era, emerged an architectural style that characterised minimalist constructions. These designs showcased bare building materials and visible structural elements over decorative designs, using exposed concrete and bold geometric structures.

Inspired by this simplicity and honest reveal, Frédérick's teapots and mugs pay homage to their brutalist form.
