A playful range of ceramic vases

The Billy Vase range started its life in Marie Michielssens studio modelled by hand first in papier-mâché and then in clay. With a real nod to architectural ornamentation and structures the designs span relief work in horizontal and vertical patterns and arched and raised dots.

Evolving into a lovely mix and match collection their final production material was destined to be a natural stoneware, an off-white colour which gives them their rustic natural look and helps retain their hand-moulded textures.

The Billy range is available inn four designs each in two sizes - Billy Fin, Billy Curve, Billy Ridge and Billy Dot.

“Functionality and comfort are crucial in the design process. To me design is inextricably linked with an experience. And this experience can only be optimised when you get the object’s function right.”

Having designed many a range for Serax these simple pots made from concrete, and versions with a glazed finish, are some of her simplest productions.
